Uniqueness and opposition

Does uniqueness mean opposition?

I mean, do you have to be in contradiction with others in order to gain recognition as "different" or "unique"?

In classic logic thinking, identity meant opposition to the rest of things. Something had a real identity as long as it was opposed to other things. But can we say the same about the logic of human affairs?

If we want to shine, is it compulsory to contradict others? Is it conflict the root of the individuality? of distinction?

I´d love to know your opinion.
